God’s presence in my life when I was recently given a field education placement from Christ the King Seminary.

This was a new experience for me that was filled with anxiety and uncertainty. I was not familiar with the location, work and involvement at Response to Love Center. Reaching out to the underserved and poor on Buffalo’s East Side would be one of the greatest challenges I would face. However, I learned that the faces of the poor were shining with the poverty of Christ and the revelation of

God’s love.

Each week when I enter the doors of the Center, I come to know more about sacrifice. The idea of sacrifice seems to no longer be a part of today’s world, yet giving of self is so crucial to our being.

 

There is a richness found as we sacrifice our personal wants and desires for the good of others. Yet, sacrifice must be done freely, without ever expecting anything in return. Only then will we recognize what a profound affect sacrifice will have in touching the life of the poor.

Sitting before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer, there is a whisper deep within my heart and soul that is coming from God that assures me of life’s purpose. This prayer helps me to understand and know that God is revealing Himself to us each day.
